Committee Meeting April 4, 2007
We had a committee meeting last night at Ned's attended by myself, Wayne, Glenn and Johnny. Paddy, Stevie and Liam were unable to attend.
Committee: Due to work and home (twin!) pressures Liam has had to resign from the committee. Robin has agreed to take the vacant spot and was so appointed. Thanks Robin for stepping in and sorry Liam that you can't stay with us.
Finance: Glenn presented the latest report which shows a positive balance of over $9000. Bear in mind that this includes raffle ticket monies and that we owe Pleasant Valley for the USGA handicaps. The Herndon tournament netted a profit of $52 after a $200 donation to the cancer society in honor of Leigh Banting.
Membership: All but about 8 of the current members have renewed. Thanks for the great response. The rest of you have all been contacted so please send Glenn your renewal fee as soon as possible. With attrition and new members we currently stand at 82 members. Allen Fidler, Dave Kane, Les Jones, Erick Wyatt, Ken Canard and Chris Eckenrode were all officially voted in as members. We will be ordering new shirts and all new members will receive one.
April tournament: The event will take place at the fabulous Blue Ridge Shadows golf club in Front Royal. Its a bit of a trek but well worth it. The fee will be $75 to include prizes and drinks. This will also serve as a qualifier for the 2007 Ryder Cup to be held in September. Your best two rounds over the next 5 months in Ned's events will count toward qualifying. The calendar for 2007 is now on the website so check it out and mark your calendars. Handicaps: I will be setting up handicaps for all new members next week. Stay tuned for details and how to update.
John O'Leary clinics: NGS will again be sponsoring the clinics at the John O'leary Golf Academy at Pleasant Valley. Stay tuned for details. These were a huge success last year.
Matchplay 2007: Please pay for your winning bids as soon as possible. We have revised the payment obligation to "within 30 days of elimination of your player." I will email you as soon as that elimination occurs. If you are in a consortium but your name is down as the owner, you are responsible.
Raffle: We have sold/accounted for almost 350 tickets. Please step up and take more tickets. You will have until the end of May to sell them. This is our big fundraiser and enables us to sponsor tournaments, golf clinics and to donate more to charity. If we sell all 600 tickets we will generate about $6500 for the society. Let me know if you need tickets.
